One Hip Show.
One Groovy Way to Help the Homeless.
Dear Friend of the Homeless: You’re invited to attend the Broadway hit show, ‘A Night With Janis Joplin,’ at the Ivoryton Playhouse on June 7 to benefit the homeless in Middlesex County, Meriden and Wallingford.
Janis Knew Homelessness
Janis Joplin is a perfect model of the people the Coalition on Housing and Homelessness helps. She knew times of homelessness, suffered with addictions, and felt disconnected from almost everyone. But, there’s a joyous part, too. She had a talent that electrified us. Same goes for our homeless. Yes, they struggle with all sorts of problems, but every one of them has something positive to offer once they begin to operate from stable housing. Other issues can be tackled and progress toward a productive life can begin. Housing the homeless not only helps them, it’s also helping communities save up to 70 percent on public services.
